A sparkling, deep meditation by a smouldering fire: this is how to describe the state of mind that comes from listening to the new album "Mist" by Marc Méan's Trio Field. Méan's music lives and breathes out of silence, drawing us into a magical world of sound that is hard to resist. Sometimes it is massive, sometimes brittle, sometimes dark and dissonant, sometimes touchingly romantic. Méan deliberately brought the pieces for the album to rehearsals unfinished, allowing his fellow musicians Patrice Moret (double bass) and Paul Amereller (drums) to actively participate in the compositional process, with the result that the songs now lie almost organically on the trio.
