Music and activism go hand in hand for Camae Ayewa aka Moor Mother. In her lyrics as well as in workshops and installations, the American sings, writes and campaigns for social justice and against racism in her home country. As a child of the 1990s, she experienced how hip hop and rap became bigger and more important, but punk and jazz also left their mark, which would later be reflected in her music.
After various band projects, she launched the solo project Moor Mother in 2012, in which she presents a sound palette that moves between R'n'B and jazz, brutal noise outbursts, but also hip hop and industrial. Whether as Moor Mother or as part of the free jazz quintet Irreversible Entanglements, to which she has lent her voice since 2015, most of her pieces are about one thing above all: the racist reality in the United States and what you can do to raise your voice against injustice.
With the festival pass for CHF 90, you can attend all concerts of the Currents Festival from 6 to 9 March 2024 at Exil and Moods.

Accessibility
The lower floor of the club is at ground level and accessible without steps. There is one accessible bathroom which can be used with a Eurokey. The bar is not accessible and is approximately 1.20 metres high. Sensory stimuli: Most concerts are accompanied by moving lights and smoke. For sold-out or well-attended concerts, it is worth arriving early. Are you unable to stand for a long time or do you need other support for your visit? Moods members are guaranteed admission to every event until 30 minutes before the concert starts. Only shows with a high demand require a reservation. The corresponding concerts are marked on the website with "Member-Reservation".

Moods is reached via the main entrance of the Schiffbau at Schiffbauplatz. We recommend arriving by public transport (streetcar 4 or 8 / bus 72, 83 or 33 to Schiffbau; S-Bahn to Hardbrücke station and from there approx. 2 minutes on foot). Parking spaces are available under Hardbrücke and in the Pfingstweid-/Hardstrasse parking garage.
